This rainbow Tiny Candy Box comes complete with a smiling pink candy mascot, floating stars and hearts, and a playful Squish Facts label on the back. Grab the free candy paper squishy template below—the PDF packs 3 versions (full color, coloring page, and a blank box) in both US Letter and A4 sizes. Once folded and stuffed, it measures about 2.2 × 2.8 in (5.6 × 7.0 cm) and pairs adorably with a gum pack squishy.

What you need

How to make it, step by step

  1. Step 1: Print the template

    1Print the template

Print your chosen sheet at 100% scale on plain printer paper—make sure to turn off “fit to page” in your print settings. Check the scale bar in the top corner: it should measure exactly 2 inches (50 mm on A4). Using the coloring page? Color in the rainbow letters, the happy pink candy face, and the little stars and hearts before moving on.

  2. Step 2: Tape the motif

    2Tape the motif

Lay strips of wide clear packing tape across the entire printed candy box net, making sure to cover all the yellow and blue tabs too. Smooth each strip down starting from the center outward, and don’t stretch the tape as you go so the glossy finish over the rainbow artwork stays completely flat.

  3. Step 3: Cut it out

    3Cut it out

Use your scissors to cut neatly along the solid black outer boundary of the template, keeping all the angled glue and tape tabs attached. Take your time around the corners where the top lid and yellow polka-dot bottom flap stick out, and never cut into the dashed interior fold lines.

  4. Step 4: Pre-fold every tab

    4Pre-fold every tab

Line up your ruler along every dashed line and trace over it firmly with an empty pen to score the paper. Fold each tab and box line inward toward the unprinted white side once, then unfold it again—taped paper is stiff, and pre-creasing now gives your candy carton crisp edges later.

  5. Step 5: Make the walls

    5Make the walls

Fold the main wall panels into a rectangular ring with the colorful candy graphics facing outside. Put a dab of glue on the long yellow side tab and press it inside the opposite wall to hold the ring together, then run a strip of regular clear tape along the outside of that vertical seam for its full length.

  6. Step 6: Close the bottom

    6Close the bottom

Spread glue onto the yellow bottom tabs, fold the yellow star-and-heart patterned base flap inward, and reach inside the box to press those tabs tightly against the inner walls. Leave the top lid with the blue tabs wide open so you have room to add your filling.

  7. Step 7: Tape the bottom

    7Tape the bottom

Since craft glue alone won’t stick permanently to slick packing tape, reinforce the base right away. Place strips of regular clear tape on the outside over every bottom edge, running all along each seam so the yellow bottom panel can’t pop open when you squeeze the box.

  8. Step 8: Stuff it

    8Stuff it

Push small, loose scrunches of plastic bag or fluffy bits of fiberfill down through the open top. Fill the bottom corners first, then add light layers up the middle—stuff lightly so the front “Tiny Candy” face and back “Squish Facts” panel stay nicely flat and square.

  9. Step 9: Close it

    9Close it

Fold the blue top tabs inside the box and close the cloud-and-candy top lid down over the stuffing. Hold the lid shut and seal every top edge from the outside with regular clear tape, covering the full length of each seam.

  10. Step 10: Squish!

    10Squish!

Your 3D Tiny Candy Box is ready! Give the front a gentle squeeze and watch the glossy carton puff right back into shape. If you prefer a super slow-rising squishy feel, prick one tiny pinhole into a seam so the trapped air escapes more slowly.

Tips for the perfect squish

  • Box edges look rounded. Score every dashed line firmly with an empty pen and a ruler before folding so the narrow side panels bend at sharp angles.
  • Side seam pops open. Glue doesn’t hold on laminated paper for long, so smooth a fresh strip of clear tape along the entire outside length of the seam.
  • Candy box bulges out. There is too much filling inside the narrow carton; pull some stuffing out so the front and back panels stay flat.
  • Wrinkles over the graphics. Use shorter strips of wide packing tape and lay them across the motif gently without pulling.

Questions

Can I assemble the candy paper squishy with only glue?

No. Glue only tacks the yellow tabs in place while you fold the box into shape. Because glue won’t stay stuck to slick tape-covered paper, every glued seam gets a strip of clear tape from the outside.

What paper works best for this candy paper squishy template?

Standard plain printer paper (80–100 gsm / 20–24 lb) works best. Heavy cardstock is hard to fold once laminated with packing tape and makes the squishy stiff.

What can I stuff my paper candy squishy with?

You can use plastic grocery bags for a light, crinkly bounce or polyester fiberfill for a plush, soft squeeze. Either way, stuff the box lightly so the rectangular shape stays neat.

What other sweet paper squishy ideas go with this box?

You can build a whole mini candy shop display by pairing this carton with a mint tin squishy. If you want a jumbo candy box, you can also print the page larger on a bigger sheet of paper—since all parts are one piece, they always fit together.

Can I make these in a classroom or party group?

Yes! Print one sheet per person and cut tape strips in advance. Kids can color the black-and-white candy box while you help with scoring and taping—plan about 45 minutes for the activity.
