With its baby-blue splashes, fluffy clouds, and a smiling little cow hugging a bottle, this 3D gable carton looks right at home on your desk. Our free milk paper squishy printable comes as a single-piece milk carton template in US Letter and A4, with 3 versions included: full color, a line-art coloring page, and a blank net for your own designs. Fold it up in about 30 to 45 minutes, and pair it with a strawberry milk squishy for a sweet drink set.

What you need

How to make it, step by step

  1. Step 1: Print the template

    1Print the template

Print your chosen milk carton sheet at 100% on plain printer paper (make sure “fit to page” is turned off). Check the scale bar in the top corner: it should measure exactly 2 inches (50 mm on A4). If you picked the coloring page, color in the baby cow, the milk bottles, and the pink heart badge now before any tape goes on.

  2. Step 2: Tape the motif

    2Tape the motif

Cover the entire printed carton net with strips of wide clear packing tape, making sure to include all the yellow glue tabs and the blue bottom tabs. Smooth each strip down starting from the center outward and don’t stretch the tape, so the cow face and the “Squish Facts” panel stay flat and bubble-free.

  3. Step 3: Cut it out

    3Cut it out

Cut out the milk carton along the solid black outer line, keeping every yellow and blue tab attached. Take your time around the pointed gable peaks and the angled corners of the roof tabs. Don’t cut any of the interior dashed lines—those are your fold lines for building the 3D carton.

  4. Step 4: Pre-fold every tab

    4Pre-fold every tab

Lay a ruler along each dashed line and score firmly with an empty pen, including the long carton corners, the roof triangles, and the top fin creases. Fold every tab and dashed line inward toward the blank white side once, then open the sheet back up. Taped paper is stiff, so pre-creasing makes assembly much easier.

  5. Step 5: Make the walls

    5Make the walls

Fold the main carton walls into a rectangular ring with the cow and milk splash artwork facing outside. Put a dab of glue on the long yellow side tab to hold it inside the opposite wall, then reinforce that vertical corner seam from the outside with regular clear tape along its whole length.

  6. Step 6: Build the roof

    6Build the roof

Fold both slanted roof sides inward and glue their yellow tabs inside the pointed triangular gables. Next, press the two top rectangular fins flat against each other, glue them back to back, and run a strip of clear tape right along the top ridge. Leave the cow-spotted bottom open for stuffing.

  7. Step 7: Tape the roof

    7Tape the roof

Because glue alone doesn’t hold on slick packing tape for long, seal the gable roof from the outside. Place strips of regular clear tape neatly over every slanted roof edge where the cloud panels meet the triangular gables, covering each seam all along the edge so stuffing won’t push them open.

  8. Step 8: Stuff it

    8Stuff it

Turn the milk carton upside down and push small pieces of plastic grocery bag or fluffy fiberfill through the open bottom. Stuff it lightly so the walls stay flat like a real carton instead of rounding out. Fill only up to the bottom of the roof, leaving the gable peak empty.

  9. Step 9: Close it

    9Close it

Fold the 3 light-blue tabs inward over the stuffing and swing the cow-spotted bottom flap shut like a lid. Hold the base flat and seal every bottom edge from the outside with regular clear tape, running the tape all along each edge so the base sits level on your desk.

  10. Step 10: Squish!

    10Squish!

Your 1.8 × 3.6 in (4.6 × 9.2 cm) kawaii milk carton is ready! Give the middle a gentle squeeze and watch the walls puff right back into shape. If it feels completely airtight and you want a slower, softer rise, prick one tiny pinhole into a seam to let air escape.

Tips for the perfect squish

  • The gable roof looks crooked. Score every dashed triangle and fin line with an empty pen and a ruler before folding so the slanted roof panels meet evenly.
  • A roof seam pops open. Glue doesn’t stick to packing tape permanently, so press a fresh strip of clear tape along the entire outside edge of the gable.
  • The carton walls bulge out. There is too much stuffing inside the box; take some out and keep the filling below the roof line so the sides stay flat.
  • Cloudy wrinkles on the cow. Use shorter strips of wide packing tape and lay them across the artwork from the middle outward without pulling or stretching.

Questions

How do you make a 3D milk paper squishy keep its boxy shape?

Score all the dashed lines with a ruler and an empty pen before folding, and stuff the body lightly only up to the roof line. Keeping the gable top empty and the stuffing loose stops the flat carton walls from puffing into a cylinder.

Can I assemble the milk carton using only glue?

No, glue is only there to hold the yellow tabs in place while you build the box. Glue won’t stay stuck to tape-covered paper, so every glued seam and the blue bottom tabs must be sealed from the outside with clear tape.

What paper works best for a paper squishy milk carton?

Standard plain printer paper (80–100 gsm / 20–24 lb) is ideal. Heavy cardstock becomes way too stiff once covered in packing tape, making the small gable roof tabs difficult to fold and the finished carton hard to squeeze.

What can I stuff my milk paper squishy with?

Plastic grocery bags give a fun, crinkly bounce, while fiberfill feels super soft and pillowy. Whichever you choose, stuff the 1.8 × 3.6 in (4.6 × 9.2 cm) carton lightly so the shape stays neat.

Can I make these milk cartons with a class or party group?

Yes! Plan about 45 minutes, print one sheet per kid, and cut clear tape strips in advance. Kids can color the cow and build a whole drink stand—or add a chocolate milk squishy—while you help score and tape the gable roofs.
