What you need
How to make it, step by step
1Print the template
Print your cheese template at 100% scale on plain printer paper, making sure to turn off “fit to page”. Check that the scale line in the top corner measures exactly 2 inches (50 mm on A4). If you picked the coloring page, color the cheese wedge with warm yellows and golden oranges for the holes, and let any marker ink dry completely.
2Tape the pieces
Lay strips of wide clear packing tape over just the two cheese pieces, rather than covering the whole page. Smooth each strip from the middle outward without pulling or stretching, because stretched tape will wrinkle later. This glossy coat makes your cheese wedge shiny, strong, and extra squishy.
3Cut out both pieces
Cut out the front and back cheese shapes along the solid outer line, keeping the small white border intact. Take your time steering the scissors around the rounded top point, the gentle side indents, and the bottom corners so both triangles match up neatly.
4Add a tape border to the back
Place the back cheese piece printed side down onto strips of regular clear tape, with the sticky side facing up. Cut the tape about 1 cm (½ inch) past the paper edge, then snip this sticky border every 2 cm (1 inch) right up to the paper. These little flaps will hold your rounded wedge together.
5Join front and back
Set the front piece directly on top of the back piece, white sides together. Fold the sticky flaps over the front edge one by one and press them down around the triangle. Leave a 4 cm (1½ in) gap open along one side (shown by the pink line in the picture) for stuffing.
6Stuff it
Tear plastic bags, cotton, or fiberfill into small pieces and push them inside through the open gap. Tuck stuffing into the far corners of the cheese wedge first—the top point and bottom corners—and stop when it feels soft and puffy. Too much stuffing makes the seams pop.
7Close the gap
Fold the last tape flaps over the opening to close up your cheese wedge, then tape the gap shut with an extra strip of clear tape. Run your finger firmly along all edges of the triangle to press the tape down well.
8Squish!
Done! Your kawaii cheese paper squishy is ready—squeeze the plump yellow wedge and watch it puff right back up. Want a slow-rising squishy? Prick one tiny pinhole in the back of the cheese.

Tips for the perfect squish
- My cheese feels too hard. If the wedge feels hard instead of squishy, it has too much stuffing inside. Open the gap, take some out, and tape the edge shut again.
- Tape wrinkles on the face. Wrinkles across the yellow cheese graphic happen when packing tape gets pulled tight. Use shorter strips and lay them on gently without pulling.
- A corner seam splits open. The rounded top point and bottom corners take the most pressure when you squeeze. Put a new short strip of clear tape across the edge, overlapping the old ones.
- Yellow and orange markers smeared. Let markers dry fully before taping your colored cheese wedge. Printer ink is fine right away.
Questions
Can I use glue instead of tape on the cheese paper squishy template?
Not for the edges. Glue doesn’t stick to tape-covered paper, so the seams would open. The snipped tape border folded over the edge of the cheese wedge holds best.
What paper works best for a paper cheese squishy?
Plain printer paper (80–100 gsm / 20–24 lb) gives the best squish. Cardstock makes the triangle wedge stiff and it won’t squish as nicely.
What can I stuff my cheese squishy with?
Use plastic grocery bags for a crinkly and light feel, or cotton balls and fiberfill for a soft pillow. You can also use small pieces of memory foam for a slow-rising squishy.
Can I make a bigger cheese wedge?
Yes! The finished cheese measures about 3.9 × 3.7 in (9.9 × 9.4 cm) at 100% scale, or you can print the page at a larger scale like 120%. Print the front and the back together on the same sheet so they match.
Can I make these with a class or a group?
Yes—print one sheet per person and cut the clear tape strips in advance. Kids can color the cheese coloring page while you help with taping; plan about 30 minutes.
