What you need

How to make it, step by step

  1. Step 1: Print the template

    1Print the template

Print your spicy noodles template at 100% scale on plain printer paper, making sure to turn off the “fit to page” option. Check the test line in the top corner to see that it measures exactly 2 inches (50 mm on A4). If you picked the coloring page, color the fiery wrapper, chili peppers, and noodle bowl now, then let any marker ink dry completely.

  2. Step 2: Tape the pieces

    2Tape the pieces

Cover only the front and back noodle packet graphics with wide clear packing tape, not the whole sheet. Smooth each strip from the middle out toward the edges without pulling or stretching it, because stretched tape will wrinkle later. This clear layer gives your packet a glossy wrapper look and makes it strong and extra squishy.

  3. Step 3: Cut out both pieces

    3Cut out both pieces

Cut out the front and back noodle packets along the solid black outer line, keeping the narrow white border all the way around. Take your time steering the scissors along the wavy, crinkled top and bottom wrapper edges and around the gently curved sides so both pieces match up neatly.

  4. Step 4: Add a tape border to the back

4Add a tape border to the back

Place the back piece printed side down onto strips of clear tape so the sticky side faces up. Cut the tape about 1 cm (½ inch) past the paper edge all around, then snip into this sticky border every 2 cm (1 inch) right up to the paper, taking care around the packet corners so the little flaps hold your squishy together smoothly.

  5. Step 5: Join front and back

    5Join front and back

Lay the front piece on top of the back piece with the white paper sides facing together. Fold the sticky tape flaps over the front edge one by one and press them down firmly along the wavy top and bottom crimps. Leave a 3.5 cm (1½ inch) gap open on one side, just like the pink line in the illustration shows, for stuffing.

  6. Step 6: Stuff it

    6Stuff it

Tear your plastic bags, cotton, or fiberfill into small bits and push them inside through the open gap. Poke the first pieces all the way into the far packet corners so the wrapper puffs out evenly, and stop once the pillow feels soft and puffy—packing in too much filling can make the taped seams pop open.

  7. Step 7: Close the gap

    7Close the gap

Fold the last tape flaps over the opening and tape the gap shut with an extra strip of clear tape. Run your finger firmly along all edges and across the wavy wrapper ends to press the tape down well so no filling can sneak out.

  8. Step 8: Squish!

    8Squish!

Done! Your spicy noodles packet is ready to squeeze. Give the glossy red pillow a good press and watch it puff right back up. If you want a slow-rising squishy, gently prick one tiny pinhole into the back of the packet so the air escapes slowly.

Tips for the perfect squish

  • Packet feels too stiff. Your noodle bag has too much stuffing inside. Open the side gap, pull out a few tufts of filling, and tape the edge shut again.
  • Wrinkles on the red wrapper. Stretched tape causes ripples across the shiny red surface. Use shorter strips next time and lay them on gently without pulling.
  • Corner seam splits open. The corners of the noodle packet take the most pressure when you squeeze. Put a new short strip of tape right across the split edge, overlapping the old ones.
  • Flame colors smeared. Bold red and orange markers need a moment to set before taping. Always let marker ink dry completely before adding tape; printer ink is fine right away.

Questions

What is the best stuffing for a ramen noodles paper squishy?

Plastic grocery bags are amazing for a noodle packet because they give it a realistic crinkly wrapper feel! If you prefer a soft pillow feel, use cotton balls or fiberfill, or try small pieces of memory foam for a slow-rising squishy.

Can I use glue instead of tape to seal the noodle packet?

Not for the edges. Glue doesn’t stick to tape-covered paper, so your seams would quickly open when squeezed. Folding the snipped tape border over the edge holds the packet together best.

What paper works best for a paper squishy template?

Plain printer paper (80–100 gsm / 20–24 lb) works best. Cardstock makes the noodle packet too stiff and it won’t squish as nicely.

Can I make a bigger spicy noodles squishy?

Yes! Print the page at a larger scale, for example 120%, making sure you print the front and the back together on the same sheet so they match. You can also craft a regular-sized chips bag squishy to build a whole snack shelf.

Can I make this ramen paper squishy with a class or group?

Yes! Print one sheet per person and cut tape strips in advance. Kids can color their own spicy wrapper design while you help with the taping, and the whole activity takes about 30 minutes.
