What you need
How to make it, step by step
1Print the template
Print your squish cube net at 100% on plain printer paper, making sure to turn off the “fit to page” setting. Check that the scale bar measures exactly 2 inches (50 mm on A4). If you chose the coloring page or blank version, color the faces, hearts, and stars now before adding any tape.
2Tape the motif
Lay strips of wide clear packing tape across the entire printed cube net, covering all the pastel squares and the outer glue and tape tabs. Smooth each strip down starting from the center outward without stretching it, so the glossy finish over the kawaii faces stays completely bubble-free.
3Cut it out
Cut out the taped squish cube along the solid outer black line all the way around. Be sure to include all the yellow and blue tabs sticking out from the squares, and never cut along the interior dashed fold lines.
4Pre-fold every tab
Line up your ruler along each dashed line and score firmly with an empty pen. Fold every square panel and tab inward toward the unprinted white side once, then open the net back out: taped paper is hard to fold later, so pre-creasing now keeps the cube edges crisp.
5Make the walls
Fold the row of pastel squares—pink face, mint hearts, lavender sleepy face, and yellow stars—into a square ring with the artwork facing out. Glue the yellow side tab inside to hold the yellow star panel to the pink face panel, then tape the seam from the outside along its whole length.
6Close the bottom
Spread glue onto the yellow bottom tabs around the peach heart-patterned square. Fold the bottom in and press those glued tabs firmly against the inside walls of your squish cube so it holds its square shape. Leave the sparkly blue top open: you fill through it.
7Tape the bottom
Glue alone doesn’t hold on slick packing tape, so reinforce the base right away. Place strips of regular clear tape along every bottom edge from the outside, covering the full length of each seam around the peach heart-patterned square.
8Stuff it
Push loose scrunches of plastic grocery bag or fluffy fiberfill in through the open top. Gently guide the filling into the corners, but stuff lightly so the pastel walls stay flat and your squish cube stays square instead of rounding out.
9Close it
Fold the blue tabs on the sparkly blue top square in and close the lid over the stuffing. Seal the top shut by taping every upper edge from the outside with clear tape, running right along the full length of each edge.
10Squish!
Done! Your pastel squish cube is ready to play with. Squeeze the happy pink and sleepy lavender faces and watch the cube puff right back up. For a slow-rising squishy, prick one tiny pinhole into a seam so air escapes gradually.

Tips for the perfect squish
- Keep the cube edges crisp. Score every dashed line between the pastel squares firmly with a ruler and empty pen before you fold. Sharp creases help your squish cube sit flat on the desk.
- Fix a popping corner seam. Glue doesn’t hold on tape and only tacks the yellow tabs during assembly. Put a new strip of regular clear tape along the whole outside seam whenever an edge lifts.
- Stop the sides from bulging. There is too much stuffing if the square sides round out. Take some filling out before taping the sparkly blue lid shut so the kawaii face panels stay flat.
- Smooth tape over the faces. Wrinkles show up easily on the pastel pink and lavender squares. Use shorter strips of packing tape and lay them on gently without pulling.
Questions
Can I use only glue to make a paper squishy fidget cube?
No. Glue just holds the yellow tabs in place while you build and doesn’t stick to tape-covered paper for long, so every glued seam gets a strip of clear tape from the outside.
What paper works best for a cube paper squishy template?
Plain printer paper (80–100 gsm / 20–24 lb) works best. Cardstock is hard to fold once it is taped and makes the squish cube stiff.
What can I stuff my paper cube squishy with?
Use plastic grocery bags for a crinkly, light feel or fiberfill for a soft squish. Stuff lightly so the 4.5 × 4.5 cm cube shape stays neat and square.
Can I make this squish cube bigger?
Yes! Print the page larger on a bigger sheet of paper. All parts of the cube net are one piece, so the squares and tabs always fit together.
Can I make these fidget squishies with a class or a group?
Yes—plan about 45 minutes. Print one sheet per person and cut tape strips in advance; kids can color the coloring page or a dice paper squishy while you help with scoring and taping.
